Make Your Donation Go Further - Claim your Tax Credit

A helpful reminder as the end of the financial year approaches

As February progresses, we would like to remind our supporters that the end of the financial year is fast approaching on 31 March 2026.

If you are planning to make a donation to Age Concern Nelson Tasman, doing so before the end of March means you may be eligible for a 33.33% donation tax credit.

Your support enables us to continue providing advocacy, education, social connection and practical support services that enhance the wellbeing, safety and dignity of older people across the Nelson Tasman region.

If giving is part of your plans this year, now is an ideal time to act. Please remember to keep your donation receipt, as you’ll need this when claiming your tax credit.

How to claim your donation tax credit

The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) makes it straightforward to claim:

  • Online through myIR: Upload your donation receipts to your myIR account during the year and submit your claim online.

  • Paper form: Complete a Donation tax credit claim form (IR526) for the relevant tax year. Forms are available after the tax year ends on 31 March.

Helpful tip: If you haven’t claimed for previous years, the IRD allows you to go back up to four years to submit missed donation receipts.
