Do you want to volunteer in our community?

We are always ready to welcome people who are willing to volunteer their time to help keep older people more connected with their communities.

Volunteering has many benefits, both for the community you are helping and for your own health, wellbeing, sense of purpose and social connections.

We have more than 100 volunteers across the region, but there is plenty of demand, so we are always looking for more. Explore our current roles on offer below and click to register.

Current roles on offer

Visitors

Our Visitor Service (VS) service is a wonderful and simple way to connect two people in a long-term friendship. We ask that you can visit someone (or take them out for a coffee, or a visit to the shops) once a week for around an hour.

Shopping Service

Volunteers assist and support an older person to do their weekly grocery Shop.

Carer Relief

Volunteers provide informal at-home respite for full-time carers who look after a family member. The volunteer watches over the older person while the carer takes a break for a few hours.

Rickshaw Riders

Are you a keen bike rider and confident with an Electric bike? We are looking for riders who have a proficient fitness level, balance, and enjoy volunteering. Our regular rides help older people get outside and enjoy the environment.

Driving

Do you enjoy driving and chatting with people. Volunteer drivers are required for our pre-organised events in Richmond and Nelson. All cars must be easily accessible and a full driver's licence is required.

Bus Buddies

We have a really exciting initiative called All on Board with Age Concern, which is about supporting and encouraging older adults to use the region’s eBuses. Buddies accompany Age Concern staff on planned bus trips to support users who need any help.

If you would like to join our amazing volunteer team, click below to fill in our form and we will be in touch soon. Thank you for your support!

Please note: It is our policy that all volunteers and staff undergo a Police Check, reference check, and attend Age Concern Nelson Tasman Volunteer Training.
