An important update about the future of memberships for Age Concern Nelson Tasman
Thank you to our members for being part of Age Concern Nelson Tasman and for the support you have given to our work with older people across our community. Your involvement has helped us stay connected, visible and responsive to the needs of older people and their whānau.
Age Concern Nelson Tasman’s current membership model will soon be changing. This is an important step as our charitable trust continues to evolve in response to a more uncertain operating environment, while also seeing greater need and dependency among older people in our community.
For 50 years, membership has been one way people have stayed connected with and supported Age Concern Nelson Tasman. However, the needs of our organisation, our supporters and the older people we serve are changing. We need a model that is more flexible, more transparent and better able to support long-term planning for services, staffing and community impact.
The new supporter model will make it easier for people to contribute in the way that best suits them. For some, this may mean continuing with a modest annual gift. For others, it may mean giving more regularly, making a larger, regular contribution, or considering a legacy gift that will benefit future generations of older people.
This change will help us:
Strengthen long-term planning for the services and staffing older people rely on.
Remove barriers for people who may wish to give more generously, anonymously or at more regular intervals.
Provide greater transparency about where donations and funding are being used.
Share clearer Legacy and Living & Giving opportunities for those who want to make a lasting contribution.
Create opportunities for larger or regular high-value donations to deliver significant and meaningful impact in our local community.
Support future generations of older people through gifts that leave a lasting legacy.
We want to reassure you that this change is not about stepping away from the people who have supported us over many years. It is about making sure every supporter can stay connected in a way that feels meaningful, affordable and aligned with their values.
As we move to this new model, we will continue to keep you informed about our work, the needs we are seeing, and the difference your support makes. We also hope to provide clearer opportunities for two-way engagement, so supporters can better understand how their generosity is helping older people live with dignity, connection and wellbeing.
Further information about the new supporter model, including the different ways to give and stay involved, will be shared very soon. In the meantime, please accept our sincere thanks for your ongoing support and for the part you play in strengthening the lives of older people across Nelson Tasman.
