Give a little Christmas kindness

Help us reach as many older people as we can this Christmas.

For most of us, Christmas means a full table and something under the tree. For some older people in our community, it means a quiet house, no family nearby and no one to share the day with. For others living on very limited incomes, those Christmas extras simply aren’t affordable. That is not the reality we want for anyone in our district.

Christmas Care Packages

This Christmas, we’re creating Christmas Care Packages for older people across Nelson Tasman who may otherwise receive very little. Each one brings practical support, comfort and a little festive joy, and a reminder that they are seen, valued and remembered.

How you can help

Give food or Christmas treats

A tin of biscuits, a Christmas treat or a favourite snack may seem small, but it can mean the world to someone.

Drop your donation off at our offices in Nelson or Richmond by 10th December 2026:

Nelson - 354 Trafalgar Square (Hearing House) anytime between 10am - 2pm, Tuesday - Thursday

Richmond - 62 Oxford Street (Age Concern Hall) anytime between 9am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday

What to donate?

Non-perishable foods: single heat-and-eat meals, crackers, canned fruit, tea, coffee

Toiletries: soaps, hand cream, body wash

Small festive treats: chocolate, muesli bars, biscuits, fruit mince pies

Your donation helps us purchase food, treats and other items for our Christmas Care Packages, so a local older person has something under the tree and food in the cupboard.

Together, we can help more older people feel remembered this Christmas, and bring some kindness, connection and Christmas cheer to those who need it most.
