Memoir Writing: 6-Week Course
Our 6-week Memoir Writing Course for older adults offers a comfortable environment for reflection and creativity, an opportunity to capture your history and your stories. Under the guidance of our facilitator, Sue Smart, you can reconnect with personal and family history and potentially preserve some priceless memories for future generations. Whether you’re a seasoned storyteller or just starting out, this is a warm, welcoming space to explore your past, meet others, and let your stories shine.
Sue has a background in education, mainly the quality assurance of tertiary education and has lived in Richmond for 11 years, though she’s been coming to Te Tauihu - the top of the south - for over 40 years. Now retired, Sue enjoys helping others tell their stories and is generously volunteering her time to guide these sessions.
Memoir writing has many benefits, it can improve memory, sharpen the mind, boost self-esteem, and bring a sense of purpose. It helps make sense of life’s journey and offers a creative outlet to share experiences, values, and lessons learned. It’s also a powerful way to feel more connected and leave a meaningful legacy.
If you’ve been wanting to write about your life but aren’t sure where to begin, this course is a perfect starting point.
