This National Volunteer Week, we’ve had the pleasure of celebrating the incredible people who give their time, skills, and compassion to Age Concern Nelson Tasman. This Tuesday was extra special, with back-to-back celebrations.

We were pleased to attend the Volunteer Nelson Mayor’s Morning Tea, where volunteers from across the region were acknowledged and appreciated for the vital roles they play in our communities. Our Visitor Service Coordinator, Susan, attended with four volunteers, representing Age Concern Nelson Tasman and connecting with fellow volunteers and coordinators.

In the afternoon, we continued the celebrations with our own Volunteer Afternoon Tea event at our Richmond Hall. Over cups of tea and coffee, and delicious baking, we shared stories, laughter, and conversation in a relaxed and friendly setting. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the important work our volunteers do, and to acknowledge the special experience and reciprocal benefits of volunteering with our older community members.

Susan and Joleen, who manage our Visiting Service and Carer Relief Service, took the time to personally thank those in attendance, and we enjoyed hearing from volunteers about what being part of Age Concern Nelson Tasman means to them. Moments like these remind us how fortunate we are to have such a passionate and generous group of people forming our wonderful volunteer team. The afternoon was filled with warmth and gratitude, a true celebration of the heart and spirit of volunteering.
