Explore Nelson’s NEW Bus Hub at Millers Acre

Are you curious about what’s happening with the new bus depot in Nelson? Come along for our next semi-guided eBus journey and you’ll get a sneak peek as we explore Nelson’s new Bus Hub at Millers Acre, the future heart of public transport in Nelson City.

Starting in Wakefield (with a pickup in Brightwater), we’ll travel into the city for a special guided tour of the new bus depot, led by the project contractor and Nelson City Council transport team. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the new facilities, including six bus bays, waiting areas, real-time information screens, and the striking new “Waitī, Waitā, Waiora” mural celebrating Nelson’s waterways and culture. We’ll also learn about the hub’s eco-friendly design, featuring rain gardens and a special stormwater system that helps protect the Maitai River. After the tour, we’ll relax with a drink at the lovely River Kitchen Café, right beside the river and just a short stroll from the hub.

This trip is part of our All Onboard with Age Concern programme, which helps older people gain confidence and independence using the eBus service across Nelson Tasman. It’s a great way to learn the routes, see how easy it is to get around, and connect with others while exploring what’s new in our region.

You can meet us in Wakefield for the entire journey, join us in Brightwater or simply jump on board anywhere along the R6 bus route. You can also come via another route and meet us directly at Millers Acre, the tour will start at 10:30am. We’re looking forward to welcoming you on board!
